Collections Specialist (Assurant)
Employer: Assurant
Location: Bothell, WA (in-person training; transitions to 100% remote once training is complete — employee must reside within a 100-mile straight-line radius of the Bothell office for the duration of employment)
Pay: Base $20.00 / hour + uncapped commissions; typical first-year earnings $60,000–$75,000 (performance driven), second-year $70,000–$100,000; $500 new-hire bonus paid at completion of required in-person training
Type: Collections specialist — full-time (paid in-person training in Bothell, then remote)
What You’ll Do:
Work on locating and contacting former tenants to negotiate payment arrangements and guide them through options for resolving debt. You’ll receive paid training on state and federal collections law, the company’s collections software, investigation and dispute-resolution techniques, and you’ll be supported to take the American Collectors Association exam (company will pay for exam). After training you’ll work remotely following company procedures and compliance requirements.
Why It Stands Out:
• Paid, instructor-led training that includes legal/regulatory instruction and software training plus funding for the ACA exam.
• $500 new-hire bonus after training and clear performance upside from uncapped commissions.
• Benefits begin Day 1, including health coverage, 401(k) with match, PTO, and a LiveWell/wellbeing program.
• Predictable schedule with no late nights or weekend hours per the posting (good work/life balance for a collections role).
Potential Trade-offs:
• Performance-driven income — overall compensation depends on collections performance and commissions.
• Must complete in-person training in Bothell, WA (office: 21222 30th Drive SE Ste. C2100 Bothell, WA 98021) before moving to remote work.
• Residency constraint — employees must live within a 100-mile straight-line radius of the Bothell office for the length of employment.
• Emotional labor and high-pressure conversations — resilience and strong conflict-management skills are required.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Resilience, persistence, strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills, and ability to handle stressful interactions professionally.
• When remote, minimum internet: 15 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload.
Benefits & Notes:
• Health benefits start Day 1, 401(k) match, PTO and holiday time, training and growth opportunities.
• Average earnings cited in posting are performance-based estimates.
• Expected application deadline listed as June 16, 2025 (posting may be a pipeline requisition if no date is shown).

This role fits you if you want strong training, immediate benefits, and significant commission upside while ultimately working remotely — but you must be comfortable with high-performance targets and the Bothell training/residency requirements. Would you take this job, or would you wait for a collections role with a different training/remote policy or a guaranteed salary floor?
